MGXS Web & Social  Media Manager

We're looking for a Web & Social Media Manager to own MGXS's entire digital presence — social media accounts, websites, YouTube, and Discord. You'll be the editorial voice and the operational backbone behind everything the public sees online.

The Role

This isn't a typical brand role. The work is conceptually dense, visually striking, and deeply process-driven. Your job is to make it accessible without flattening it — to maintain a coherent, living presence across platforms that spans collectors, artists, technologists, and the curious.

This is a contract role with a monthly retainer. You'll work closely with Fernando, with significant creative freedom to shape how MGXS shows up online.

Responsibilities

  • Social — Develop and execute a monthly content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn

  • Social — Write captions, threads, and copy that match the MGXS voice — curious, precise, and unapologetically exploratory

  • Social — Create or commission short-form video content around GNSS, MEM, LORE, and new work — process videos, behind-the-scenes, generative previews

  • Social — Engage with the community: responding to comments, DMs, and keeping the conversation alive

  • Web — Keep content fresh across mgxs.co and the project sites (gnss.mgxs.co, mem.mgxs.co, lore.mgxs.co) — publishing news, artwork updates, and copy refreshes via the CMS

  • Web — Coordinate with Fernando on website content for project launches, drops, and new releases

  • YouTube — Manage the MGXS YouTube channel: publishing, titles, descriptions, and thumbnail copy

  • Community — Moderate and grow the MGXS Discord — keeping it engaged, organised, and welcoming

  • Strategy — Monitor metrics across all channels, sharing monthly insights with clear takeaways

  • Strategy — Translate complex ideas (generative systems, AI training, cosmogony) into content that resonates without oversimplifying

  • Strategy — Stay tuned to generative art, AI art, and digital culture — bringing relevant ideas to the table proactively

What we're looking for

REQUIRED

  1. 2+ years managing social media and/or digital content for an artist, studio, gallery, or creative brand

  2. Genuine interest in — or knowledge of — generative art, digital art, AI, or creative technology

  3. Excellent writing skills: you can make complex, conceptual work feel inviting without dumbing it down

  4. Comfortable updating content in a CMS (Squarespace or similar) — no coding needed, but confident publishing, editing, and managing media

  5. Comfortable with short-form video: Reels, TikTok, process content

  6. Self-directed and reliable — you hit deadlines, flag issues early, and don't need hand-holding

  7. A strong portfolio showing content you've managed across at least two digital channels

NICE TO HAVE

  1. Familiarity with the generative art or NFT/digital art space (Foundation, Art Blocks, fxhash, etc.)

  2. Experience managing or moderating an online community (Discord, forums, etc.)

  3. Experience working with artists or independent creative practices

  4. Basic motion or graphic design sensibility

  5. Your own creative practice or established online presence

Compensation

  • We are offering a part-time Services Agreement (freelance) with the following conditions:

  • €1000,00 monthly

  • 2 to 3 days per week

  • Onsite work (MGXS Studio @Cascais)

How to apply

Send an email to r@mgxs.co with the subject line "Web & Social Media Manager — [Your Name]"

Please include:

  • A short intro (2–3 sentences on who you are and why this role fits)

  • Links to accounts, websites, or communities you've managed

  • Your availability and CV

We review applications on a rolling basis and will reach out to candidates we'd like to speak with.
