P0RT_TR4IT (2022)

Art transcends boundaries, creating experiences that challenge our perceptions. The P0RT_TR41Ts collection by MGXS, first showcased at the “Visions From Remembered Futures” exhibition at SuperRare Gallery in Soho in May 2022, epitomises this blend of human and machine creativity. As part of the GNSS universe, this collection is series of abstract portraits from unknown entities living on the other side of the canvas, challenging the viewing of nature and artificiality as opposites. MGXS Studio reached a significant milestone with the manufacturing and shipment of the physical P0RT_TR41Ts as digital frames in Spring 2024.

Unlike traditional portraits manually crafted on a canvas, MGXS employs a unique algorithm to generate P0RT_TR41Ts. This algorithm produces countless images of these entities, each one distinct, capturing the essence of beings that blur the lines between organic and synthetic life. P0RT_TR41Ts resemble traditional portraits, although they are generated and stored in bits and bytes. They are concrete yet abstract, depicting otherworldly entities that seem to live on the other side of the screen. This process complements the GNSS series, adding depth and complexity to the narrative that MGXS has been developing. These 26 portraits are a reflection of the past, present, and future of the GNSS universe.

"PORTR4IT is a series I created in 2022, abstract portraits from unknown entities living on the other side of the canvas. Like all of my work, I wanted to challenge the viewing of nature and artificiality as opposites, and tell a new version of the story of our cosmos"
